The Sea Planes and Flying Boat represent a unique period in aviation history. Historic collectible models in 1/72 scale presented in authentic color and detail. The golden age of Flying Boats and Sea Planes lasted for a brief period of forty years. These aircraft not requiring extended runways pioneered the air routes of the world and roved the oceans protecting allied shipping in time of war.

In 1940 the PBY-5 variant offering two Pratt & Whitney R-1830-32 Twin Wasp 1,200 H.P. each. Wingspan 104 ft., length 63 ft. 10 in. Armament: 5 machine guns. The parasol wing monoplane known as the "Cat" spotted the German battleship "Bismarck" after the sinking of the British battleship "Hood". Having the ability to fly long hours the aircraft was ideally suited for convoy guarding patrols. Alternatively the "Cat" could carry eight 325 lb. depth charges or two 2,000 lb. bombs under the wings. |

Long range four engine reconnaissance. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney R-1830-88 Twin Wasp 1,200 H.P. each. Wingspan 115 ft. length 79 ft. 3 in. Armament: 8 machine guns. The PB2Y-2 was the principle variant of which 210 were ordered in 1940. Many of the Coronados were converted into transports following the example of the British Royal Navy. |

Gull wing monoplane powered by two Wright R-2000-12 cyclone 14 cylinder, 1,700 H.P. each. Wingspan: 118 ft. Length: 80 ft. Armament: 7 machine guns, 2,000 lb. of bombs. A large and powerful, stable aircraft offering excellent results under strenuous operating conditions. The Mariner stayed in service through the 1950's. the Mariner did not replace the famous "Cat", but joined the Catalina in Reconnaissance and patrol. |

Mid-wing monoplane with single float. The most widely used carrier-base reconnaissance plane of the war. The sea plane became a standard on U.S. Navy Capital ships and was operated in this role up to the last day of the war. Powered with a Pratt and Whitney R-985-48 Wasp Junior 9 cylinder 450 H.P. Wingspan 35 ft. 11 in. Length: 33 ft. 7 in. Armament: 2 machine guns. The Kinfisher and their pilots are known for their magnificent rescue missions. |

The great flying boat made it's maiden flight January 1942, having a wingspan of 124 ft. and powered with 4 1,200 H.P. each Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp engines. All three of these aircraft flew on the New York - Foynes Transatlantic route for the Navy under the guise of "American Export Airlines." One of these planes was captained by the famous pilot, Charles Blair, making the Foynes-New York flight direct in twenty-five hours. |

The JRS-1 was the Navy version of the Sikorsky S-43A. Powered with Pratt & Whitney Hornet engines. Wingspan: 84 ft. Length: 54 ft. The JRS-1 could be flown as either amphibious or pure flying boat, having retractable landing gear. The civilian variant became known at the "Baby Clipper". |

A patrol and bomber sea plane first originated as a civil aircraft. Powered by three Alfa Romeo A.R. 126 RC34, 750 H.P. each. Wingspan 86 ft. 11 in. Length 63 ft 1½ in. Armament: 4 machine guns, 2,650 lbs. of bombs. The Cant's performance encouraged its use as a bomber and as a reconnaissance plane and through the 1960's as an air ambulance and air sea rescue. |

Designed as a catapult - launched seaplane carried on board capital ships. A biplane with a large center pontoon and fixed wing floats. Was used in many roles beyond its original mission as a reconnaissance aircraft. The "Pete" saw action as dive-bomber, close support and as a fighting aircraft. Armament consisted of two 7.7mm fixed machine guns, operating through the propeller and one flexible operating from the rear cockpit. The lower wings were designed to carry 500 lbs. of bombs. |

Four engine parasol monoplane flying boat with a maximum bomb load of 3,300 lbs. The "Mavis" had a range of 2,100 miles with a crew of eight. Armament consisted of four 7.7mm machine guns and one 20mm cannon in the tail turret. At the outrbeak of the war Kawanishi flying boats were in the front line and was one of the first Japanese aircraft to bomb Australia and New Guinea. Toward the latter part of the war the "Mavis" was used exclusively for reconnaissance. |
